A proud Mexican born in Texas, Adrian is the youngest of five siblings. Growing up in a big family in the north of Mexico taught him to love nature, horseback riding and visiting the countryside, though nowadays he considers himself a full-blown city boy.
He has played sports all of his life and got really good at them since he always practiced with his eldest brother. In fact, when he was a senior in high school, his team won a national soccer championship – or rather futbol, as he likes to point out – and he is convinced the story will be made into a movie one day – or perhaps a short film.
A world traveller, Adrian has lived in Chihuahua, Vancouver, Paris, Monterrey, Quebec, Montreal and Ottawa. He dreams of one day visiting the Serengeti. His role at Surmesur allows him to travel to a variety of major cities, where he evaluates market conditions and their potential to welcome new Surmesur stores.
Adrian believes that nothing beats a good taco, with the possible exception of a well-tailored suit.
Anthony is motivated primarily by two things: his studies in international relations and his work at Surmesur. He loves to learn and sees these two constantly evolving fields as fertile ground for his ongoing education.
Anthony is a lover of all things sophisticated and authentic, as evidenced as much in the outfits he creates at Surmesur as in his passion for fine wines and Scotches. To those in his personal entourage, he is someone who likes to laugh and make others laugh; to his clients in-store, he is an attentive professional who adapts well to the needs of all.
His dream is to become a diplomat, a vocation that would allow him to live abroad and to make good use of his interest in international relations, all the while continuing to wear great suits.
For Charles, everything revolves around culture, impulse and aesthetics. This Star Wars fan embraced literature at a young age, later adding art history to his repertoire before pursuing his newest passion.
Working in a tea house was a revelation for Charles. He even holds a diploma from the Canadian Tea Institute, and it’s this interest that led him to clothing. As he likes to say, both worlds are all about ‘the aesthetic, beauty, detail, the richness of tastes.’
A veritable social media phenomenon, @hismajestycharles discovered fashion while working at Terra Nostra for two years. He later stretched his creativity at Venne, a made-to-measure menswear store.
Charles brings an entirely different dimension to the Montreal boutique. Besides his personality, his creativity and enthusiasm make him one of the most sought-after stylists in his milieu. It’s in this environment, where he can be himself and express his art, that Charles feels complete.
François Thériault co-founded Surmesur along with his brother, Vincent, when their world travels revealed the potential to offer a new way for men to shop. “The moment when I saw thousands of possibilities of fabric and options, I knew something amazing could be created,” he says. Since the brothers had always shared a passion for sports and entrepreneurship, it seemed logical to put their interests and heads together to launch Surmesur in a competitive market where they would have to work hard to thrive. “Sports taught us to always push ourselves to meet our goals, whether it’s for a practice, a game or the playoffs,” says Frank. His role within the company also plays to his interests as he looks after supply chain and logistics, overseeing every step of the client experience from fabric sourcing to order processing to final delivery. For Frank, it’s all part and parcel of building the client relationships and customer satisfaction that are the lifeblood of Surmesur.
Peter came to Surmesur with 31 years of experience, including 13 at Ralph Lauren in Europe and the U.S., under his highly fashionable belt. This gentleman's wasted no time distinguishing himself as a walking encyclopedia of men’s sartorial dos and don’ts.
If he had his druthers, he would dress Justin Trudeau and George Clooney, perhaps in the bold colors and velvety textures that populate his own wardrobe.
A master of mixing and matching, Peter is only too happy to share his top tips for creating the perfect look for every client who walks through the door. Color, for starters, is always key.
A well-travelled man who considers Paris to be the geographic heart of men’s style, he also has his sights set on visiting British Columbia and is patiently awaiting an invitation to the Cannes Film Festival. In the meantime, he invites you to visit him at Surmesur’s Mississauga store.
Having lived in Pittsburgh his entire life, Zach Barzanty is a true “Yinzer,” which means, as Zach himself explains and every Pittsburgh native would understand, that he bleeds black and gold!
Actually, it could be said that style is also in his blood: when Zach and his brother were younger, their grandfather gave them the majority of his cufflink collection. Zach has been “a big cufflink guy” ever since.
After gaining 10 years’ experience in menswear, Zach was attracted to Surmesur because of what he describes as its family atmosphere, a feeling he tries to replicate in-store as manager of Surmesur Pittsburgh.
Like many of his fellow Yinzers, Zach is a fan of any and all sports. His dream would be to combine his interests by dressing professional athletes, a dream that could easily become a reality in a sports town like Pittsburgh.
“Athletes dressed in suits is like seeing a shooting star,” he says. “It doesn’t happen often but when it does, it’s phenomenal.”
